Sourdough Crumpet Recipe

Sourdough Crumpets

Nothing beats a deliciously warm crumpet dripping with butter and golden syrup in the morning. And now, with this easy recipe, you can ditch the store bought ones and make your own delicious sourdough crumpets from scratch!

Crumpets were always a favourite breakfast treat when I was a kid and they still are. We always had some store bought ones in the freezer, ready for when ever we wanted some.

This recipe not only tastes better, but it is better for you as it is made with sourdough starter which has all the added sourdough benefits.

This recipe is super easy with only 4 ingredients! Sourdough starter, honey, baking soda and salt. They knock the socks off store bought crumpets when it comes to taste. You do need crumpet rings to cook crumpets, but you know what, I never had any for a long time and just used egg rings and they worked just fine. You can purchase crumpet rings from any kitchen type store, I actually got mine from Spotlight.

One of the best things about this recipe, other then the taste, is that they freeze really well. Cook a double batch and try and get some in the freezer before they all get eaten!

Give it a go and let me know what you think.

Enjoy,

Sage
